June 5, 5:00-6:30pm – Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine Admissions Unfiltered: How to Be Competitive and Stand Out

Applying to medical school can feel overwhelming, especially when so much advice is second-hand, outdated, or coming from people who have no clue how admissions decisions are actually made. This workshop is designed for community college and university premed students who want clear, honest guidance about how to be competitive for Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine and what it truly means to stand out. Lindia Willies-Jacobo, MD, FAAP, Senior Associate Dean for Admissions and Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity, and Agasia Lanier, MS, Senior Admissions Recruitment Specialist, will explain what the school is looking for in applicants, including academic preparation, service, leadership, lived experience, professionalism, and alignment with mission and values. 足彩app哪个是正规的y will also discuss how to present your story effectively across your application, secondary essays, and interviews without falling into common traps. June 6 – From Doubt to Doctor: Overcoming Naysayers Through Belief and Service

This workshop is designed for community college and university premed students who want practical strategies to stay grounded, keep believing, and serve with purpose while building a competitive medical school journey. Melissa Gonzalez, MD, a PGY-2 Psychiatry Resident in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford Medicine, will share how she navigated doubt, protected her motivation, and turned lived experience into strengths that translate into meaningful service and professional growth. Drawing on her commitment to mental health education, wellness, and mentorship, she will discuss resilience without burnout, cultivating supportive communities, and aligning your activities with authentic values rather than external pressure. You can come, ask your questions, and get answers in a candid, supportive conversation, hearing directly from the source instead of second-hand misinformation from people who have no clue about the admissions process or the realities of training. Leave with renewed clarity, concrete next steps, and a mindset built for the long game.
