As a Biology major, you will have already completed the <strong>Natural Science (NSc) <\/strong>and <strong>Reasoning (R) <\/strong>requirements by taking chemistry and biology classes, but make sure to plan for completion of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>English Composition (C) &#8211; 5 credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional Writing (W) &#8211; 10 credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diversity (DIV) &#8211; 5 credits (almost always also fulfills A&amp;H or SSc; was only 3 credits prior to autumn 2023)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arts &amp; Check our <strong><a href=\"\/stem\/undergraduate\/majors\/biology\/admissions\">Admissions page<\/a> <\/strong>for more information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Investigative Biology<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Biology students must complete at least one biology-related research project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/stem\/undergraduate\/majors\/biology\/investigative-biology\">Investigative Biology page<\/a> <\/strong>for information on the requirement, how to find research, and step-by-step instructions for making sure that your project fulfills the requirement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Plan EARLY: <\/strong>Start planning for this requirement at least 6 months in advance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"electives\">Elective requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biology &amp; Society<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You must complete one (1) course for this requirement. This is flexible \u2013 if you find a course that seems related to <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">both<\/span><\/strong> Biology <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">and<\/span><\/strong> Society then you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/stem\/undergraduate\/majors\/biology\/resources#petitions\"><strong>submit a petition<\/strong><\/a> to request for it to count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many Biology and Society courses can also fulfill <a href=\"#general\"><strong>general education credit<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Upper division biology electives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You must complete 20 credits (usually four courses) of upper division (300-level or higher) biology elective coursework. You must choose your electives from <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">at least two out of three<\/span><\/strong> of the following categories.
