\n\tIAS faculty member Anida Yoeu Ali<\/a> recently performed “足彩app哪个是正规的 Red Chador: Ban Me!” at Art Central Hong Kong<\/a> from March 20-25, 2017. While still utilizing religious aesthetics to provoke ideas of otherness, Ali performed a new iteration of her internationally recognized “足彩app哪个是正规的 Red Chador” series as a response to questions about democracy, civil participation and public complicity. For Hong Kong, Ali adapted her performance to emerge from 99 protest signs, each sign appropriating text from notable slogans of the HK Umbrella Movement, President Trump’s public speeches, the US Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s and\/or popular quotations from the Islamic faith.<\/p>\n

\n\tAli’s performance was selected by Art Radar as one of the 10 highlights at Art Central 2017<\/a> and featured at newsstands in Harper’s Bazaar March 2017<\/a> magazine.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow in its third edition, Art Central is recognised as a platform exhibiting cutting-edge works by emerging and established artists. With over 35,000 people in attendance, the fair is the much anticipated kickoff event to Hong Kong’s Art Week alongside the prestigious Art Basel<\/a> and other city wide cultural events. Ali performed her durational work alongside other internationally recognized artists as part of a performance series curated by Mikala Tai of the Sydney based 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art<\/a>.<\/p>\n
