This past March, our campus community came together for Alternative Spring Break (ASB)\u2014a week dedicated to community service, environmental stewardship, and educational programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ASB is a collaborative effort between CoSEE, Outdoor Wellness, UW Bothell Sustainability, and Cascadia Sustainability. More than just a volunteer opportunity, it is a manifestation of our commitment to the land and all the life it supports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-3-font-size\">足彩app哪个是正规的 Purpose Behind the Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our social well-being is tied to the health of our local ecosystems. Alternative Spring Break bridges the gap between classroom theory and community impact, allowing students to practice direct stewardship while building lasting social connections. Here is how our participants made a difference:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Group Hikes at St. Edward State Park<\/strong>: 足彩app哪个是正规的 week kicked off with a group hike through the lush trails of <a href=\"https:\/\/parks.wa.gov\/find-parks\/state-parks\/saint-edward-state-park\">St. Edward State Park<\/a>. As we walked and explored the trails, students picked up trash and talked about the importance of restoration and taking care of our parks. 足彩app哪个是正规的s also saw a variety of key native species including a family of bald eagles! 足彩app哪个是正规的 morning wrapped up with a picnic lunch where participants reflected on the importance of urban canopy preservation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sustainable Agriculture at 21 Acres Farm<\/strong>: Later that week, the focus shifted to our local food systems. Volunteers headed to <a href=\"https:\/\/21acres.org\/\">21 Acres Farm in Woodinville<\/a> to assist with seasonal farm projects. From prepping soil to supporting spring planting, participants gained first-hand insight into the complexities of sustainable farming. After a shared lunch, many stayed to explore the farm\u2019s local Farm Market and Sustainability Library, deepening their understanding of how local food choices impact regional ecology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protecting the Shoreline at Log Boom Beach in Kenmore<\/strong>: We closed out the week at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenmorewa.gov\/our-city\/projects\/walkways-and-waterways\/log-boom-park-waterfront-access-and-viewing\">Log Boom Beach Park in Kenmore<\/a>. 足彩app哪个是正规的 mission was clear: protect Lake Washington\u2019s ecosystem.
